Police arrest wanted rapist

It is alleged the victim was walking to school when she was raped at knife point.

A 24-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for rape this morning in a joint operation between Pinetown FCS, Umsunduzi and Plessislaer .

It is alleged the man, who was armed with a knife, raped a 21-year-old woman who was walking to school in the Ngangezwe area.

KZN police spokesperson, Capt Nqobile Gwala said a case of rape was opened at the Umsunduzi police station.

“The docket was transferred to the Pinetown FCS Unit for further investigations.  Police worked around the clock, collecting evidence to link the suspect to the rape case,” said Capt Gwala.

The man will appear in the Camperdown Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 18 November.
