Young and the old celebrate the culture of bowls
The older members dressed up in traditional bowling outfits while the younger ones came wearing colourful and funky clothes.
TO celebrate the culture of bowls, the Lahee Park Bowling Club hosted a competition for Heritage Day on Monday, 25 September.
The bowling club members were divided into two groups, the dodgers (young generation) and bullets (older generation).
Lahee Park competition secretary, Pierre Theron, said the aim of this event was to remember the culture of the game while having fun.
“The older members were asked to come in their traditional bowling outfits while the younger ones dressed in colourful funky clothing,” said Theron.
This competition which the club was introducing this year will be an annual event which will be held on Heritage Day.
Theron invited people to come to the club and enjoy the game of bowls.
“Bowls are not only for the old people, young people can also play this sport, it for everyone,” he said.
People who wish to join the bowling club can email the club secretary at gaga@3i.co.za.
