Human skeleton remains found in Westville

This is the second set of human remains found in eThekwini in two days.

A CASE of inquest has been opened at the Westville police station following the discovery of human skeleton remains in the Westville area on Tuesday, 14 November.

Capt Elizabeth Squires, spokesperson for Westville SAPS, said municipal workers were cutting the grass in Warspite Road when they unearthed a human skull.

“Detectives were called to the scene and the skull was taken and booked into Pinetown Mortuary for forensic investigation,” said Squires.

Squires added that the pathologist will do an autopsy to determine the age, race and gender of the person who’s skull was found. The case will be investigated by Westville detectives.

It was reported that a gardener in Amanzimtoti came across the skeletal remains of a human in the back garden of a Riverside Road home on Monday.
The bones and skull of a person were uncovered when the gardener was clearing bush at the back of the property.
