Attend Malvern CPF’s next meeting

If you live in Malvern you need to make sure you don't miss the CPF meeting in March to where a new executive committee will be elected

WITH Malvern CPF’s next meeting being its AGM, the interim CPF executive committee (EXCO) has asked that people make an extra effort to attend as a new committee will be elected at the meeting to replace the interim EXCO.

Last year in September the current interim EXCO was set up following the resignation of those on the MCPF EXCO. Public relations officer for the interim CPF, Tracy Ridsdale said: “This process was overseen by Malvern SAPS station commander, Lt-Colonel Reddy.”

“The Malvern CPF (MCPF) is a legal structure established in terms of the South African Police Service Act and is mandated to facilitate community and police relations within the Malvern policing precinct,” said Ridsdale. At the time Ridsdale said she was overwhelmed by the support from the community. “We hope they will carry on supporting the CPF. One of the first tasks for the committee will be to schedule and hold a public AGM and elections where the EXCO will be elected,” said Ridsdale.

“We have a lot of work to do, but we are eager and ready to get going.”

CPF mandate

Last month, the interim chairperson of MCPF’s EXCO, Kevin Pillay said he hoped to see a record number of people coming to the next meeting and was planning to be making himself available to become the chairman of the EXCO having left the other committees he had been on to allow himself the time to focus on the tasks the MCPF have taken on.

“I also chair Parkside NHW and its AGM is in April and I have made it know I will not be available for re-election,” he said. “I was fortunate enough to be elected the interim chair,” said Pillay.

“We want to formulate the core cooperation between the police and the community to assist in community policing. On 12 March we are electing our full committee and we are hoping to be re-elected so that we can continue with the work we have been doing.”

“The CPF mandate is to foster a collaboration between the police and the community but we want to take it a step further and foster an environment in which the police are best able to work.” said Pillay.

“To that end, we have identified areas that need to be revamped at the police station as an interim committee and have already begun work on the improvements.”

“We took a decision among ourselves to raise funds and have begin work including the installation of CCTV cameras and a new gate, and we have a lot more to come. We would encourage the community to come and help, as it is their neighbourhood,” said Pillay adding that he hoped people who go to Malvern SAPS will already notice the improvement.
