Get your will drafted for free at Pinetown Legal Aid SA office

National Wills Week 2020 takes place from Monday, 26 to Friday, 30 October 2020.

WITH the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic dying suddenly has become a reality and people are advised to utilise National Wills Week to draft wills at no cost in order to ensure that their assets are distributed according to their wishes.

National Wills Week 2020 takes place from Monday, 26 to Friday, 30 October 2020 and Legal Aid South Africa (Legal Aid SA) has partnered with the Law Society of South Africa and the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development to draft basic wills throughout the week, as well as providing legal advice on wills, all at no legal cost.

Legal Aid SA KZN spokesperson, Bongani Mahlangu they have identified that not having a will in place more so at the time of a sudden death of a family member leads to acrimony among family members over the division of the assets of the deceased and the prejudice to children of the deceased whose rights to the share of the deceased estate is comprised or violated.

“Without a valid will, there can be unhappiness and conflict among members of your family because there are no clear instructions on how to distribute your assets and rightful heirs may not receive what is rightfully due to them,” said Mahlangu.

The Pinetown community and surroundings can visit the Pinetown local office.

“They will accept walk-in clients who seek assistance with the drafting and completing of basic wills. Furthermore, Legal Aid SA Legal Practitioners will also be available to provide legal advice on any wills or estate queries,” said Mahlangu. The office is in Pinetown at No.1 Church Lane, 1st floor, ABSA Building. The public is reminded that they that they will not be granted access to Legal Aid SA offices without a face mask. “They will also be required to sanitise their hands, their temperature taken, and abide by the social distancing protocol,” added Mahlangu.
