VIDEO: Botha’s Hill NPO rescues pup from side of highway
After a few days at a local veterinary practice, the pooch was released back into the care of Animal Antics Pet Rescue.
A MALE puppy was rescued from the side of a highway by the dedicated Animal Antics Pet Rescue team on Sunday and, with the support of the local community, looks to make a full recovery.
The six-month-old pooch was rushed to the Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital.
He was covered in ticks and mange and, was malnourished and had a temperature of 40 degrees.

He was diagnosed with biliary and ehrlichia.
The dog was placed on a drip and was tended to by the staff at the local veterinary practice for a few days before being released back into the care of the non-profit organisation, which is based in the Botha’s Hill area.

The team has since named him Billy.

“He has been released from the vet and is back at AAPR. He has come out of his shell and is such a sweet little guy. We have noticed he has a limp on his back leg, so we will keep an eye on that and, if need be, take him to the vet to be checked,” said one of the organisation’s directors, Sam De Wet.
