Man in court for allegedly raping friends’ sister

The victim was at a birthday party when she was allegedly lured by her brother's friend into a bedroom.

A MAN (20) was arrested by Bellair SAPS for allegedly raping a minor at a birthday party on Sunday, August 29.

Bellair SAPS communications officer, Sgt Pam Pillay said the victim, who was with her brother, was lured into the bedroom by her brother’s friend in search of her cellphone.

“The suspect appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, August 31 and the case is being investigation by the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit,” said Pillay. 

Pillay advised women to always be focussed, never let their guard down or place themselves in vulnerable situations.

“Women should always remain cognisant of their whereabouts no matter whose company they may be in,” she said.
