Residents work together to keep community clean

The initiative was supported by the community, the Move One Million-Upper Highway group and the neighbourhood watch, Crestwatch.

THE Keep Crestholme Clean group hosted its last neighbourhood clean-up for the year on Saturday, and plans to resume its projects again on the last week of January.

This was the third clean-up of this nature and the organisers, Markus and Melanie Harmse, are glad to see that they are collecting less and less rubbish each time, which means the community is more conscious of their contribution and are littering less.

“We are finding that people are taking responsibility. The first clean-up was bad when compared to today’s one,” said Melanie.

The initiative was supported by the community, the Move One Million-Upper Highway group and the neighbourhood watch, Crestwatch.

More than 20 bags of rubbish were collected and they were picked up by Durban Solid Waste later on that same day.
