School news: Head prefects
In the Highway Mail school news feature this week, we help schools congratulate their new student leadership.
Kloof High School
THE Kloof High School head girl for 2024 is Shardenay Govender, and Benaiah Makanha is the head boy. The deputy head girls are Faith Klopper, Busisiwe Mfeka and Dimakatso Pakkies. The deputy head boys are Oletha Bhengu, Uyanda Fikizolo and Thabo Ngcobo.
The girl prefects are: Kelly Barthus, Michaela Cairns, Mercury Costello, Keira de Nysschen, Luyanda Sibiya, Amahle Majola, Khwezi Zwane, Noluthando Mchunu, Siphokazi Mkhize, Amahle Mthonti, Alyssa Munsamy, Naledi Ndaba, Hope Phiri, Madison-Mia Ras, Tayla Scheiby, Tatum Tomlinson and Inga Zulu.
The boy prefects are: Seyuran Chetty, Owen Couchman, Sashen Govender, Treyden Govender, Thokozani Gumede, Troy Ladell, Lizwi Mnombeli, Sanele Ntini, Calvin Ruth, Joshua Sheppard, Mpumelelo Matibela, and Zenande Hlatshwayo.
Hillcrest High School
THE student council members for 2024 at Hillcrest High School are Philasande Phewa and Antony Smith who are the head leaders. Kaelyn Stainer and Tayla Davies are the deputy heads. Kevaan Ramsern and Thandolwami Makanya are the Grade Eight heads, and Liam Payne and Erin McCartney are the Grade Nine heads. Sange Mlonyeni and Unam Mtsokoba are the Grade 10 heads. Jenna Louw and Onkguputse Mavundla are the Grade 11 heads.
Pinetown Boys’ High School
The Pinetown Boys’ High School leaders for 2024 are Khwezi Shembe, deputy head prefect; Philasande Gasa, head prefect, and Asibonge Sosibo, deputy head prefect.
St Mary’s DSG Kloof
ST Mary’s DSG Kloof selected Andiswa Mahlungu as head girl and head of student affairs. Trinity Kilmartin was chosen as deputy head girl and head of service. Isabella Chisholm is the new head of chapel, and Kwandokuhle Mayeza is the new head of boarding.
Waterfall College
The Waterfall 2024 head prefect is Danielle Espag and the deputy head prefects are Jonah Von Brughan and Tyla Cochrane-Murray. The prefects are Nokukhanya Mahlokozi, Lolwethu Masango, Luke Soulsby, Isabella Meiring, Stephanie Smart, Declan Tait, Teigen Wood, Matthew Kruger, Jordan Biddle, Matthew Baverstock and Craig Gill.
St Benedict School
In 2023, St Benedict School opted to introduce a Prefect Leadership Team rather than appoint head prefects. The system worked well and will continue in 2024. Each leader has a portfolio which they are passionate about, and they champion this area of the school. Portfolios include Pastoral Care, Conservation, Events and Ethos. The school wish them all well and look forward to their contribution to our school community.
