THE KZN Road Racing Club is preparing for another thrilling day of motorsport action in the Sprint Series Championship at Dezzi Raceway on August 1, following the successful hosting of Round 4 at the South Coast circuit on July 4.

The Motul-sponsored Super GT category produced exciting racing across all three classes, with close competition and impressive driving throughout the field.

In Super GT A, Jordan Edwards produced a commanding performance in his Formula M to claim overall class honours.

Bilal Ahmed finished second in his immaculately prepared BMW, while Steve Clark secured third in his ever-popular ‘Pink Panther’ Backdraft Cobra.

Super GT B once again lived up to its reputation as one of the championship’s most fiercely contested classes.

Backdraft factory driver Mike McLoughlin claimed another class victory, with former off-road champion Manfred Schroder finishing second.

Devon Clark impressed on his competitive Cobra debut, taking a well-deserved third place while competing on a varsity pass.

In Super GT C, Peter Blofield delivered another faultless drive in his RaceCo-prepared Cobra to take top honours.

Bev van Heerden once again showed she could match the front-runners, finishing second, while Zareef Basha completed the podium in third.

With valuable championship points at stake, spectators can expect plenty of action from lights to flag in Round 5.

The programme includes the popular Retro and Modified Saloon classes.

The Retro category showcases beautifully prepared classic race cars, while the Modified Saloons feature an exciting mix of purpose-built machines known for their performance and entertaining on-track battles.

Adding to the excitement will be the Lotus Challenge, a national championship featuring the various derivatives of the iconic Lotus Seven.

Renowned for their lightweight design, exceptional handling and wheel-to-wheel racing, these cars consistently deliver some of the closest and most exciting contests of the day.

Motorcycle fans will also enjoy a full programme featuring the Sub 500, Formula Extreme, 150 Class and Super Production categories.

Spectator gates open at 07:00, with racing taking place throughout the day.
