Man killed in a truck accident on the Hans Dettman Highway

Advanced Life Support Paramedics attended to a fatal truck accident on the Hans Dettman Highway.

A man believed to be in his fifties was found trapped in a truck following a fatal accident on the Hans Dettman Highway over the M7 Highway in Pinetown. Advanced Life Support Paramedics Medical Services spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they arrived on the scene along with the Netcare 911 Rescue Unit on Monday just after 13:00 to find that a single truck had lost control and jackknifed.

“The driver, a male believed to be in his fifties, was found severely entrapped in the truck.  Advanced Life Support Paramedics quickly assessed the driver, however, his injuries were too severe, and there was nothing more paramedics could do for him. He was declared deceased on the scene,” Jamieson said. 

Jamieson said the events leading up to the accident are unknown, however, the SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
