The game estate manager, Michelle Grant, said they are desperately trying to reunite the ashes back with the family.

According to Grant, they presume they were stolen as the box could be mistaken for a jewellery box, and once the person realised what was in it, they discarded it.

“The box was found in Drummond on a busy pathway to Ximba. I have asked on social media and various WhatsApp groups, and I’m surprised at how often this happens.

“A few people have contacted me, looking for their loved one’s ashes that were stolen, but unfortunately, no one has claimed them yet,” she said.

Grant appealed to anyone who can assist in reuniting the ash box with the family to contact her on 031 777 1464 during office hours.
