Woman critical after dog bite in Malvern

The woman is in critical condition after she sustained multiple bite wounds.

A WOMAN in her 30s was rushed to hospital after she was bitten by a dog in Malvern.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamison said they responded to the incident which happened in Daisy Road, Malvern, just after 15:00.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that a female in her thirties had been attacked by an apparent Belgian Malinois as she was exiting a property.

“The patient had sustained multiple dog bites to her body and was found to be in critical condition. Advanced Life Support Paramedics worked to stabilise the injured lady before she was rapidly transported to Ahmed Al Khadi Private Hospital where a trauma team was awaiting the patient’s arrival,” said Jamieson.

He added that SAPS, metro police and the SPCA were on the scene and will be investigating what led up to the attack.

This incident follows a few other cases of dog bites around Durban.

Last week, a one-year-old child was bitten by a family dog in the Queensburgh area.
