SPAR generous donation uplifts women’s foundation
In support of women's rights, The SPAR Group announced a donation of R100 000 and Petals sanitary towels worth R5 000 to the Sinethemba Women’s Foundation.
SPAR Group donated R100 000 to the Sinethemba Women’s Foundation. This was made possible through the generous participation of women in the Kwa-Zulu Natal SPAR Women’s Challenge which was held in June.
In addition to the R100 000, the foundation also received Petals sanitary towels worth R5 000.
“The SPAR Women’s Challenge is more than just a race. It is an annual celebration that champions health, community, empowerment and recognition,” said Mpudi Maubane, the national PR, communications and sponsorships manager.

“By inspiring women to embrace active lifestyles, fostering a sense of unity, raising awareness about pressing issues and honouring women’s achievements, the challenge is a catalyst for change, uplifting and empowering women across the nation.”
Sinenhlanhla Mbatha, medical scientist and leader of the Sinethemba Women’s Foundation, expressed her gratitude for the donation.
“The funds donated by SPAR will support our vocational training and business development projects, crucial for empowering women and helping them become agents of change within their communities.”
Mbatha said the organisation plans to refurbish existing infrastructure, particularly the computer centre, and purchase essential training tools and equipment.
“This support will significantly impact our efforts to empower and uplift women in our community. With this funding, we can expand our programmes, offer vital resources and create more opportunities for women to flourish. SPAR’s commitment to making a difference inspires us, and we are honoured to be their partner in this journey of transformation,” added Mbatha.
