Westville Girls’ strikes gold at marimba champs
Westville Girls’ High School Marimba Band won the High School Marimba category in the South African School Band Association National Championships.
A GROUP of 22 learners from Westville Girls’ High School participated in the South African School Band Association National Championships which were held in Vereeniging.
Culture and leadership co-ordinator Nicola Angelosante said the girls worked hard over two days in the dry, 30-degree-plus heat, giving their all in their performances.

The Tour Drumline placed fourth behind heavy-hitters Springs Boys’ High School, Northwood High School and Hoërskool Oosterland from Mpumalanga.
“Our Tour Marimba band won the High School Marimba category, with a Gold Award performance. This Nats was a special experience. Retaining our Marimba title is fantastic, but seeing the Drumline battle against the best in the country under such difficult circumstances was awesome.
“Our sincere thanks to all who contributed to making the tour a reality – those who supported our fundraising efforts and to our parents,” she said.
