A tribute show, a market and summer concerts with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra - Durban has a lot to offer this time of year.

DURBAN always delivers when it comes to entertainment and markets. Get out and enjoy some of the events listed for this month below.

Homage to Bryan Adams (Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22)

ROB and Garth Warren of The Black Lapels bring their signature acoustic style to the songs that have defined a generation, delivering a fresh yet heartfelt homage to one of rock’s greatest icons with their show Back to You: An Acoustic Tribute to Bryan Adams at the The Rhumbelow Theatre (Northlands Bowling Club).

Tickets to watch the show cost R200 and R180 for Northlands Bowling Club members. Bring food picnic baskets. No alcohol may be brought onto the premises.

Booking is essential and limited; secure parking is available.

The show takes place at the Northlands Bowling Club (50 Margaret Maytom Avenue) on Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22. Support the ‘paw’fect market (Saturday, February 22)

THE next SPCA Market Day takes place on Saturday, February 22 at their premises at 2 Willowfield Crescent, Springfield Park. The monthly market is free and open to all from 08:00-11:00.

Enjoy summer concerts with KZNPO (Thursday, February 20 and Thursday, February 27)

THE KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra’s two-concert Summer Season runs in The Playhouse Opera Theatre on Thursday, February 20 and on Thursday February 27, with each World Symphony Series concert starting at 19:00. There are no public morning rehearsals.

The Summer Season opens on February 20. Daniel Boico conducts Tchaikovsky’s iconic Violin Concerto book-ended by two Beethoven concert stalwarts.

The second and final concert of the season sees Mark Kadin on the podium essaying the music of Haydn, Chopin and Mendelssohn.

For audience members who would prefer not to self-drive to the Playhouse to attend KZN Philharmonic concerts in the evening, the Orchestra is providing a subsidised bus service, allowing people to park in the suburbs and hop onto a bespoke bus into town. Various routes are on offer: for the North of Durban residents – from Grace Family Church in uMhlanga departing at 18:10 (R100 return); for Upper Highway residents – a bus departs from St Agnes Church at 17:50 (R100 return); Westville residents can park at Westville Senior Primary, with a bus departing at 18:10 (R80 return); a bus stops at the Caister Lodge in Durban’s Berea for Durbanites, departing 18:20 (R60 return). Fresh produce market (Sunday, February 23)

THE team from Macnut Farm in Lello Road, Assagay, hosts a Sunday Fresh Produce Market from 11:00 to 14:00 for locals to buy and sell homegrown produce in picture-perfect surroundings. There will be a Sunday lunch, drinks and a bar available. There is no charge either to sell or to enter. Traders are welcome. For more details, call 031 765 2572 or 074 603 0000. Dolphins take on Lions at Kingsmead (Wednesday, February 26)

The Hollywoodbets Dolphins are geared up and ready for an exciting One Day Cup which started this past weekend.

The Durban side play their next home game against the DP World Lions at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Wednesday, February 26.

The game starts at 13:00 at Kingsmead Stadium. Tickets are available at www.ticketpros.co.za.

Plan ahead for high-energy comedy (Tuesday, March 4 and Wednesday, March 5)

FOLLOWING a sold-out run at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre, entertainers – Aaron McIlroy, Lisa Bobbert, and Liam and Jane Magner of Veranda Panda – return with their high-energy musical comedy extravaganza, Retro Fest!

The show takes place over two nights at Crusaders Sports Club in Durban North on Tuesday, March 4, and Wednesday, March 5.

Dust off your vinyls, dig out those old cassettes, and shine up your dancing shoes. Food options available from Saders Kitchen (not included in ticket price). Contact Saders Kitchen on 084 505 0113 for menu information.

Doors open at 18:00 and the shows starts at 19:00 at Crusaders Sports Club (10 Ranleigh Crescent). Tickets cost R220 and are available through Webtickets or at Pick n Pay stores.
