Bail hearing postponed after Westville murder suspect fails to ‘show up’
The family of Taryn le Roux was left in the dark when the accused did not show up in court.
THE family of Taryn le Roux (48), who was murdered allegedly by her husband, left the courtroom frustrated and seeking answers on Wednesday, October 1, after the accused failed to appear for his formal bail hearing.
The 63-year-old suspect, who is currently remanded at Westville Prison, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife at Waxy O’Connors in Westville on September 15.
It is alleged that the couple had an argument before he pulled out a gun and shot her.
Despite being scheduled to appear at the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court, the accused was absent, and the reason for his no-show was not made clear in court. The matter was postponed to Monday, October 6.
Le Roux’s niece Lisa Beresford-Mnyandu said today’s outcome was frustrating as they stayed in court for hours only for the case to be postponed without any clear explanation.

“The past two weeks have been overwhelming for the whole family,” she said with a sigh.
Beresford-Mnyandu said her aunt is truly missed as she was a light in every room.
“Her joy and laughter touched everyone she met.”
In the wake of Le Roux’s sudden passing, a BackABuddy campaign has been started.
“My grandfather is now faced with not only the grief of losing his only daughter, but also the responsibility of caring for Taryn’s son on a pensioner’s limited means.
“Any donation would help immensely to pay for educational related expenses (uniforms, stationery, matric dance etc) and everyday bills and expenses.
“Big or small, every donation is a massive help,” said Beresford-Mnyandu
She extended her appreciation to everyone for their support, prayers and contributions in this difficult time.
“Taryn’s parents, my grandparents, are deeply grateful and touched by the community’s love. There are not enough words to thank you all,” she said.
