COMEDIAN and East Coast Radio Breakfast Show host, Darren Maule, was welcomed as a “Friend of HHS” – Hillcrest High School – when he popped in for a visit on Monday (April 20).

Maule, who has been visiting schools around Durban, is on a mission to fill his high school blazer with badges, scrolls and accomplishments.

On Monday he visited HHS and was met with a theatrical greeting by drama learner and accomplished actor, Onke Gumede, head girl Natalie Rees, head boy Azola Shandu, and Grade Nine learner and RCL member Osaze Mhlongo for the badge handover.

Maule was thrilled with the new addition to his blazer, which was custom made with his name and “Friend of HHS”, and pinned onto his blazer by Shandu.

Mhlongo then proceeded to gift his Kingfisher pin, which he received at the school as a Grade Eight learner and member of the Class of 2029, to Maule who was moved by the gesture.

After the pinning, Maule stayed and chatted, regaling the learners with stories of his school years and asking them questions about their interests and passions.
