Pensioner convicted for road rage murder to be sentenced in June
Anthony Edward Ball was last year convicted for the 2022 murder of Dean Charnley during a road rage incident in the Kloof area.
ON June 22, the Pinetown Regional Court is due to hear the mitigating and aggravating arguments ahead of the sentencing of the pensioner convicted of a 2022 Kloof road rage murder.
In March 2025, Anthony Edward Ball was convicted of the 2022 fatal shooting of Dean Charnley, a father of two, during a road rage incident in the Kloof area.
On Thursday (May 7), the court postponed the matter to June.
It is reported that Ball was 67-years-old at the time of his arrest in 2022, while Charnley was aged 49.

Meanwhile, a recent road rage incident in Johannesburg that resulted in a fatal shooting raised concerns about such incidents on the country’s roads.
In that incident, it was reported that 48-year-old Faisal Ul Rehman was killed, while his wife Tehseen Zahara Faisal was left critically injured.
Following that incident, police in the province urged the public, especially drivers, to abide by traffic rules and laws and to exercise patience while on the road to avoid road rage incidents unfolding.
