EDITOR – I want to thank Robyn Scott so much for her newsdesk editorial in the Highway Mail (11 April 2014) bringing the public’s attention to the trauma of the goose family caused by abrupt chainsaw felling of Umdoni trees.
It was so thoughtful, caring, pertinent and important of Robyn Scott, because she also represented many of us through her words, and I applaud those two real men who came to the rescue of the goslings.
So many creatures need people like us to be their voice, as “development” rides roughshod with absolute insensitivity over little remaining patches of their natural habitat.
I sometimes wonder if words like “development” and “progress” are just euphemisms for callous, greedy exploitation. Nothing respectable whatsoever about that.
