We should see our fees at work

"The Roads Department are sitting on their laurels, when pot holes and maintenance to road signs need to be attended to immediately." - Hugh Andrews

I AM jumping on the back of the DA councillor’s letter (20 October) addressing the issue of where exactly fees that are charged are being used and why we are unable to see the benefit.

The Roads Department are sitting on their laurels, when pot holes and maintenance to road signs need to be attended to immediately.

We are not interested in excuses of insufficient funds as this project needs labour only.

Hillcrest has a very moist climate resulting in: algae, mildew and moss on signs where some signs are hardly visible.

Signs are obscured by alien plants and shrubs from as far back as 20 meters.

Sign posts are knocked over and need a small adjustment.

Branches on pavements need to chopped up and removed.

General maintenance needed for signage.

Street lamps are covered by foliage and blown bulbs need to be replaced.
