KHS dominate at weekend games

With its first bout of competition for the year taking place at the weekend, Kloof High School won many of its games.

KLOOF High School started off its sporting new year with a bang, taking top positions in many of its games at the weekend.

On Friday evening both the 1st netball and 1st rugby teams took part in the annual Gelofte Night Series. Kloof’s 1st XV were out to defend their title and won with a convincing 24-0 over New Forest while the netball team beat Toti 23 – 16.

The momentum carried through to Saturday with the cricketers and indoor hockey girls played. After two mid-week games having been postponed due to the rain, the cricket teams were eager to display their talents and they duly delivered with a clean sweep against George Campbell. The 1st team won a close encounter by two wickets in difficult conditions, the 2nd team had a solid six wicket victory. Both the U14A and U15A teams recorded convincing wins, the former by 139 runs, the latter by nine wickets.

In the girls’ indoor hockey league the 1st team lost 0-2 to Maris Stella, but the U16A team beat Westville 6-5 on Friday. They followed this up with a 7-2 victory over Maris Stella U16A on Saturday morning.

The girls’ 1st touch rugby team came out victorious against Northlands, winning 3-1.

The girls’ and boys’ 1st waterpolo teams travelled to Treverton to play in their annual 1st team tournament and although the boys did not fair too well, the girls won all four of their games.
