KZN BMX league takes off

THE Lahee Park BMX Track hosted its first official race on Sunday 23 February. It was the first race of the season for the KwaZulu-Natal BMX league.
According to Tim O’Brien, the club chairman, the day had a terrific turnout, as 61 riders took part in the race. “Riders from four years of age right through to adults showed their skills, giving the supporters a day of excitement and fun for all,” said O’ Brien.
Luc O’ Brien took first place in the eight to nine year old experts race, while Callen Ward and Kai Henning took second and third place respectively.
Lahee Park’s Ryan Perry won the 12 to 13 years novice race. Nicholas Wright and Matthew Pieters were at his heels with second and third place.
The cruiser class race was won by Wayne Beadsworth from Lahee Park. Michael Fikkert came second and Daniel Byrne came third.
Members of the Lahee BMX Club meet for practice on Friday evenings from 5pm to 7pm. The club encourages new members to join.
