Explaining how the competition works, Juggernath said countries from all over the world will be competing in Ireland in November. It is a specialised facet fishing competition where U21s participate.

“In this competition, you are given a 20m zone, and you are only allowed to fish in that zone. The aim is to exploit your zone as best as you can – it involves a lot of technical work. So you need to think about where the fish are, use different techniques, and exploit it as best as you can,” he said.

The team heading to Ireland were selected for the Protea Team through the self-casting nationals. This is the South African tournament that is held in the province. The team fished for KZN CAU, and from there, they went to the provincial level. They ranked for two years at the top, and because of their ranking of two years, they were selected to represent South Africa.

Juggernauts said he is confident in each member’s skills as they all have accolades and, moreover, are passionate about the sport.
Furthermore, the team is working on raising funds for the competition as each member will need at least R60K to make it to the competition. The public is welcome to join the fundraising endeavour and email marketing@kloofhigh.co.za.
