Villa Lisa Highlanders FC beats Mojo City FC

The competition is extremely tight with three games remaining, and six teams fighting for the Vosloorus Local Football Association’s Super League.

With only three games left in the Vosloorus Local Football Association, Villa Lisa Highlanders FC remains in high spirits after they collected three points.

This follows a narrow 1-0 victory against Mojo City FC during the Super League clash at Vosloorus Stadium on April 28.

Banela Nkosi scored the game’s only goal, playing one-two with the midfield before receiving a through pass, leaving him with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Fourteen Overflow FC holds position three in the Vosloorus Local Football Association Super League – Stream A.

The win guaranteed the Highlanders the top three spots in Stream B, joining Vigorous United FC, which is in position one, and Revolution Spurs FC in second place.

The top three clubs in Stream A are Vrrphaa Nation FC in the first position, followed by Nqobile and Fourteen Overflow.

Mbonisi Mabena said the mood among the players and the team management is positive. They only hope for the best as they approach the end of the line.

He said the only thing that could pose a challenge for them is the goal difference.

However, they plan to score as many goals as possible in their remaining games because they still believe they can end the campaign in position two or one.

Vigorous United FC won 6-0 against Overflow FC on April 26.

“Our performance was good. It was a tough match. I have to give respect to coach Thokozani ‘Jomo’ Mtshali. He is a tactician and not easy to beat because he plays a difficult formation and his players are very mobile,” said Mabena.

He said they had to dig deep to come out with three points from the clash. He thanked the players and management for an outstanding performance against a good team.

“I discovered that when it comes to talent and competing man-to-man, my players are more experienced compared to his players because he has youngsters for the future. In my team, I have players who have won the league before with other teams. In the end, experience won us the game,” he noted.

Mabena praised Bongani Khumalo, brought in to balance the middle field because Moja City FC desperately attacked with hopes of levelling the score.

“I applaud the goalkeeper for Moja City. He was arguably the man of the match in this encounter. We attacked them from the onset, but he was the one who stood between us and the goals.”

The chairperson and head coach, Jomo of Moja City, was unavailable for comment.
