Realeboha Primary bids farewell to Grade Seven learners

Grade Seven learners from Realeboha Primary felt cherished after the school held an entertaining and informative farewell in their honour.

Realeboha Primary School (RPS) Grade Seven learners enjoyed a day filled with entertainment as the school bid farewell to the primary school senior learners at Palm Ridge Community Hall, Katlehong, on November 9.

RPS celebrated the learners ahead of their preparations to sit for the final and last-ever examination in their intermediate phase.

During the farewell ceremony, they were encouraged to prioritise studying and practising hard. Many of them, if not all, anticipate beginning the secondary phase of their academic career next year.

The school governing body, school management team, teachers and former learners attended the ceremony.

A Grade Seven 7 C learner Lindiwe Ngomane (13), said the farewell was great, adding she enjoyed spending the day with schoolmates and teachers.

She said they will start with exams, with mathematics and her favourite subject history on November 13.

“When I started Grade Seven, I was nervous, but I was ready to start my exams. I feel like I am in a fit state because I prepared myself,” said Ngomane.

Another Grade 7 C learner, Lerato Sejane (13), said the academic year was hard, but the teachers were doing their best.

“Our teachers tried all means to ensure we understood what we were being taught. There were challenges, especially with mathematics. It is difficult,” said Sejane.

She said she asked her classmate Siyanda Nyauza, the best at mathematics, to help her prepare.
She further noted as learners, they received a splendid valediction.

“We feel appreciated by the school, given they never receive a request to contribute financially to assist the school in organising the farewell.”

The deputy principal of RPS Muzi Khumalo, said the school started with the learners seven years ago and he is confident they will all perform well.

“Our learners are performing extremely well because our school has been recognised as the best school in Gauteng. Based on their performance, I am optimistic they will all go to Grade Eight,” said Khumalo.

He advised the learners to keep their eyes on the ball, as this is just the beginning of their academic journey.

“Primary school is not similar to secondary school. There are many challenges to face in high school. They must humble themselves. It is important to stick to their educational goals.

“One of the most common dangers in high school is peer pressure. If our learners can avoid that, I believe they can complete their matric.”

The principal, Henry Mabaso, expressed they wanted all learners to have a bright future.

He noted some learners appeared before various disciplinary hearings. It was necessary because for them to have a bright future, they must be disciplined.

“For a child to succeed in life, you need to be humble and respect both the elders and your peers,” said Mabaso.

“There are challenges you are going to encounter. There is a big challenge called peer pressure, where your newly found friends will influence you to experiment with drugs. Do not do it. Drugs are not cool at all.

“Do nothing that will compromise your educational journey. For you to complete your journey, you need to be aware of some pitfalls, with drugs being one of them, gangsterism and engaging in activities that you are not ready for like romantic relationships,” he continued.

“Your focus should be on engaging education because education is a tool to ensure you have a brighter future, and you cannot have a good education if you are not disciplined.”

A former learner of RSG, Simphiwe Khumalo addressed the learners, telling them high school is fun but challenging. “Those challenges are there to prepare you for a fruitful tomorrow,” she added.

She reminded learners every action has a reaction, whether positive or not.

“The key things that will assist your journey are patience, focus and hard work. Invest in yourself, your education, and your future. Education is more than just reading books and studying towards your chosen career. It teaches you the ability to speak, reason, and comprehend.

“To all the Grade Seven learners, I wish you the best. Be a generation of leaders, a generation to break generational curses and build generational wealth,” she concluded.
