Warning to all bank users

A scam victim warned locals after he received a call claiming his credit card was ‘compromised’.

On June 24, I was contacted by a person claiming he was from the bank’s fraud department.

It looked very legit, and the caller ID even showed blue. He said my credit card was compromised.

He even gave me the numbers on the credit and debit cards. Well, he cleaned out my account, and I’m still waiting for the bank to return the money. Don’t answer calls from a bank or fraud or credit card departments.

According to the Consumer Protection Act, there are eight things you can do to avoid falling victim to a scam:

• Be suspicious

• Don’t trust unexpected contact

• Do your research

• Resist demands to act quickly

• Keep your computer virus protection up to date

• Never open attachments or click on links in emails if words or images make you feel unsure about the sender

• Use different passwords for logging in to online services

• Reserve the right to be impolite
