Mambas FC claim the first Disco Kasi Games tourney title in Katlehong

Mambas FC defeated Scathulo Sika Madam FC to claim an R 100 000 cash prize and the champion title of the first edition of the Disco Kasi Games.

Mambas FC were crowned champions of the inaugural Disco Kasi Games tournament after a narrow victory against Scathulo Sika Madam FC during the final at Ground D, Palm Ridge, Katlehong, on February 18.

Mambas proved to be an unstoppable force not even the wet weather conditions could stop the Johannesburg-based team in their quest for the title.

They won 3 – 2 against the Daveyton side with Kgotso ‘Killer’ Mahloane scoring a brace and Xolani ‘Berry’ Nkala scoring one goal. Ndabenhle ‘Ndaba’ Ndlela and Tshepiso ‘Tso’ Rakhibane tried to keep Scathulo Sika Madam FC in the game when they scored but that was not enough to win the match.

Coach Vincent ‘Pep’ Rammoni of Mambas FC said the tournament was excellent and well organised from the first day until the finals.

“As much as we are champions of the tournament we acknowledge that the games were very competitive and the opposition teams displayed their best possible performance,” said Rammoni.

He said he was proud of the team as he explained that the boys gave their all from the first day till the last day.

“I am so honoured to coach such quality players who put their hearts for the team to be good. It was a great tournament all around, the match officials, commentary, teams and players were very good. We will definitely come back to defend our title.”

. The rainy weather conditions did not stop Mambas FC from winning the final.

The coach of Scathulo Sika Madam FC, Cebo Masina said the final was thrilling and the crowd was excited.

“We are pleased with the tournament because there was no favouritism and the teams were treated equally,” said Masina.

He said the final was balanced and it was unfortunate that they were unable to convert their scoring opportunities.

“We played well, I think what led us to lose the game was the simple mistakes we committed but had we converted the chance we created the outcome would have been different,” he said.

Masina further said this was not their first encounter against Mambas FC which one of the biggest teams in kasi tournament.

“The last time we played against Mambas we lost 2 – 1, through this tournament we were hoping to fight for team and level things out but unfortunately we lost. We are preparing to compete in the Kanana tournament in Tembisa.”

Xolani ‘Disco’ Khoza founder of Disco Kasi Games expressed gratitude to the sponsor Bheki Langa Wholesale for supporting the tournament and the teams for participating.

“The tournament was great from the start, there were no challenges, fights or complaints. We are going to plan for next year, fans can expect a bigger tournament.”

Mambas FC took the R100 000 first prize, Scathulo Sika Madam FC won the second prize of R25 000, while Polokwane FC and Njomane FC equally shared the R10 000 cash price.
