A message of encouragement for Monica from Down Under
'You are not alone in your sadness, Monica'
A message of encouragement for Monica van Loggerenberg (29) of Birchleigh reached Kempton Express on Thursday last week from far, far away.
Michelle Scheepers currently lives in Melbourne, Australia and found Monica’s story on Kempton Express’ online edition.
Monica, her two children, Jean-Pierre (8) and Mackayla (3) van Loggerenberg, her fiancé Juan van Niekerk and their daughter Abigail (eight months) were 12km away from home on the evening of July 8 last year when the family was allegedly hit from behind by another driver. Jean-Pierre and Mackayla died on the scene.

Monica spent weeks in hospital recovering from her injuries.
Monica spoke to the Express a few weeks ago about the accident and how she copes.
Here is Michelle’s message to the young mother:
“Dear Monica,
“I am just a mom and I am not always good with words, but I can’t even begin to imagine what you are going through, losing both your children on the same day and waking up in hospital finding out that the funeral has already taken place.
“This was a terrible tragic accident that happened to your family and I know it hurts so badly, but I believe in a God of miracles who will supply all your needs.
“You are not alone in your sadness, Monica, because you are loved by the One who matters most. My prayer is that God’s presence will be so mightily present in your life and that you will find the healing and peace you so deserve.”
Michelle worked in Kempton Park Library for 12 years, serving the community and students.
“I loved my job, but when my husband got an opportunity I didn’t think twice and we moved to Melbourne,” Michelle wrote to the Express.
“I am so grateful for all the opportunities that came our way, although it was difficult at first. We always miss home, but especially the food. I currently work at a local Christian school as a library officer and I often read your paper, and sometimes I get excited when I see some of the library members I used to serve.
“Thank you for a great community paper that keeps all informed. Both far and near,” Michelle wrote.
