KEMPTON Park SAPS fired warning shot at a man attempting to steal a car at Arwyp Medical Centre at about 12.20 pm on Wednesday.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesman for Kempton Park SAPS, the police were patrolling Pine Street when they noticed two suspects who were allegedly tampering with the doors of a white VW Golf parked at the hospital.

Mtshali said when the suspects noticed the police approaching them, they fled.

The police gave chase and one of the suspects drew a sharp instrument in an attempt to scare off the police.

Mtshali said the police then fired a warning shot. The suspects kept running but police managed to arrest one of them, a 31-year-old Nigerian national.

Police are still looking for the other suspect.
