Mr SA contestant joins schools to collect much needed food
Four schools have joined hands in the #ShineOn Project
Mr SA finalist Hannes van der Walt, together with Hoërskool Kempton Park, is running a food drive.
In the wake of an extended lockdown, Hannes recognises that food is one of the most important focal points to consider for those who have been confronted with harsh realities.
“It is with great pleasure that I introduce the #ShineOn Project to you. As a Mr SA 2020 contestant, I have one aim during this extended lockdown and that is to make a difference.”
Any donated goods can be taken to Hoërskool Kempton Park where the items will be sorted, packaged and delivered to beneficiaries’ doorstep. Children who have benefited from the Broodjieprojek in Kempton schools are also considered during this initiative.

“Many individuals and families are in dire need at this stage. They are in need of food parcels and together with Kempton Park schools we have decided to launch this project to assist families from neighbouring schools and communities.”
Hannes said phase one of the project will include marketing the project via all social media channels to ensure records are up-to-date in terms of what is needed. “Families will be motivated to submit their names and info to a secure and trustworthy source in order to be taken into account for assistance via this project.”
