Baby boy fights for his life after incident at daycare

One of the prayers posted on Facebook: 'Lord please be with this little angel. Please hold him and don't let go. Please help him recover and don't let anything happen. Please Lord we pray this. Amen'

Prayers are streaming in for a seven-month-old baby boy who is fighting for his life in hospital after he had stopped breathing at his daycare mother.

The next 24 hours are crucial as doctors have stopped sedating the little boy. Another brain scan will be done on Monday to determine whether there is any brain activity, a close friend of the boy’s mother, posted on Facebook on Sunday morning.

According to Facebook posts, The received a call from the daycare centre telling her, her baby had stopped breathing. No ambulance was called.

There are now concerns that foul play could be involved, as the baby has swelling and bleeding on the brain, as well as bruising on the left side of his face.

The hospital had started with an investigation and procedures as the child’s injuries were not in line with a normal accident.

The daycare centre’s name has not been mentioned pending the investigation.

Dozens of concerned residents have expressed their shock on Facebook at the incident. Prayers for his full recovery are still pouring in.

The family friend posted: “The support we are getting from this group is also making us very strong in faith and love. I might not technically be his mother’s sister but we’ve been friends since grade 1, and I have to say I lovehim like he is my own.

“We’ve spent some wonderful times with him and his little sister, and it kills me to see him like this, knowing what a healthy, happy baby he is and to see his parents like this, is breaking my heart.

“I will do anything for them and love them dearly. I told her the best meds and doctor for him is our prayer and faith in God. So I’m saying we are truly grateful for all the love and support on this group. It’s amazing, thank you.”

On request of the family we have removed the child’s photographs. Express also decided to remove all names.
