According to provincial police spokesman, Capt Tsekiso Mofokeng, Kempton Park SAPS were patrolling on Pretoria Road when they were stopped by a young, injured boy.
“The boy said other boys, aged 16, were kidnapped and kept in an open field near Pretoria Road. The police immediately mobilised an operation initiated by Kemptom Park SAPS station commander, Brig Kgoroba. Five other boys with wounds on their private parts were rescued,” said Mofokeng.
Mofokeng added that paramedics had been called to the scene and treated the boys before transporting them to a local hospital.
“The five arrested are facing charges of kidnapping and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm. More charges could be added once investigations have been completed.”
It is not yet known how many days they have spent in the field.
“The boys are very traumatised. We still need to get statements from them to find out exactly when they were kidnapped,” he said.
