Grade 8 pupils ready for a new school year
Tembisa High school, Education, Tembisa, The Tembisan,
Tembisa High School welcomed 490 grade 8 pupils to the school on January 13.
The head of the grade 8 group and educator, Ms Joyce Nontenja, said the number has escalated as the school admitted 409 grade 8 pupils last year.
“I encourage the pupils to work hard, to do their work, to attend classes regularly and to have good behaviour,” said Ms Nontenja.
She said the transition from primary school to high school is a challenging one because the school experiences a lot of absence among the grade 8 pupils.
“They are shy because of the new environment.
“We encourage them to open up and to not be shy,” said Ms Nontenja.
Ms Nontenja said academic areas where grade 8 pupils sometimes struggle include maths and science.
“We advise parents to check their children’s school work regularly and to register their children in any of the available Saturday schools,” she said.
