Child and nanny die in Thembisa house fire

A family in the Mangweni Section of Tembisa is reeling from the devastating loss of their home and two family members in a house fire.
The incident on July 28 has left the community in shock and the family desperately needing help.
The fire broke out shortly after the restoration of the electricity to the house, engulfing the property within minutes.
A 5-year-old girl and her nanny were caught in the blaze.
The nanny, a 49-year-old woman, lost her life on the scene while they rushed the girl to the hospital with severe injuries.

Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the child succumbed to her injuries and died at a local hospital on July 29.
The family is now grappling with the pain of losing a child, compounded by losing their home and possessions.
The family is now reaching out to the community, humbly asking for help.
The Traditional Healers Organisation (THO) confirmed the incident and committed support for the family.
This tragedy directly affected a member of the THO, as the deceased nanny was his mother.
Gogo Dumezweni, chairperson of THO, expressed their solidarity, saying, “We stand with his family during this unimaginable loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
As the community rallies together to support the grieving family, any assistance – monetary donations, clothing, or household items – would be appreciated.

Gogo Dumezweni said the family lost everything in the fire and faces the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch.
“Their immediate needs are overwhelming, and they are now reaching out to the community for assistance.
“The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the consequences were immediate and devastating.
“The nanny was a cherished member of the family and had been caring for the child since she was an infant.
“Her dedication and love for the child were clear to all who knew her,” said Gogo Dumezweni.
