Three suspects caught with unlicensed firearm in Ivory Park

Officers found a 9mm pistol with its serial number filed off, a magazine and one live round of ammunition.

Three suspects were recently arrested in Ivory Park Sector Four.

Crime prevention officers from the Ivory Park Police Station made the arrests after spotting a suspicious e-hailing vehicle near one of the area’s busiest liquor stores.

SAPS Ekurhuleni district communications officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela said a search was carried out after stopping the vehicle.

Officers found a 9mm pistol with its serial number filed off, a magazine and one live round of ammunition.

“The three men in the vehicle were arrested and taken to the Ivory Park Police Station where they were detained,” Sekgobela said.

Major General Anna Sithole, Ekurhuleni district commissioner acknowledged the members of SAPS Ivory Park Crime Prevention for their constant attention to detail as they carried out their responsibilities to lower the district’s crime rate.
