122 suspects nabbed by SAPS for various crimes

The team recovered 55 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles, with 19 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

Officers from Rapid Response Services comprising the Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 122 suspects and recovered 55 motor vehicles and 23 unlicensed firearms between May 17 and 23.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

It led to 64 arrests for serious crimes, including assault common and GBH, illegal trade in endangered species, robbery, intimidation, violation of protection order, kidnapping, rape, theft, possession of suspected stolen property, armed robbery, malicious damage to property and illegal immigrants.

The team recovered 55 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles, with 19 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.

They also recovered 23 unlicensed firearms, accompanying nineteen (19) arrests.

In further policing, the team arrested 27 suspects for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases.

The suspects will appear in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
