Families and locals are slowly trickling in for day one of the 29th St John’s Easter Rugby Festival

Rugby enthusiasts look forward to watching an Australian and a New Zealand team at St John’s College.

Day 1 of the 29th St John’s College Easter Rugby Festival is officially underway on April 2.

Families, friends and locals are slowly trickling in and making their way to fill the stands on Burger Field and C Field, where different age groups and teams are showing off their rugby skills.

Lebogang Makhubedu and Musa Mbuyisa, who are Springs Secondary School learners, said they were enjoying the games so far. “The lineup and schools that have played have been impressive. We can’t wait to see more games later.”

Christine du Plessis and Lily Davidson from St Mary’s Waverley School said they did not have favourites yet but were enjoying the quality of the games being played.

Rugby enthusiasts are looking forward to seeing the Australian School, St Joseph’s Nudgee College of Brisbane, and Westlake Boys’ High School of Auckland, New Zealand.

They both come with the reputation of being among the best in their countries, and will be watched with interest.
