Mango Groove will groove up Women’s Month

To celebrate South Africa’s incredible women, the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens in Roodepoort will host the irresistible kwela-pop sounds of Claire Johnston and Mango Groove, one of the country’s most beloved bands with a string of number one hit songs to their name, at the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens Women’s Month concert on August 24.

Acclaimed singer-songwriters Josie Field and Laurie Levine will also take to the stage for a varied acoustic set, ranging from bluesy vocal rock to folk-inspired country, amid the natural beauty and diversity of the indigenous gardens.

Gates to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens open at 11am with the music starting at 1pm.

Things you should know about the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens concerts:

• Arrive early, bring a picnic basket and blanket and choose a prime spot to unwind and enjoy the music

• Food and refreshments will be on sale at the venue

• A supervised kids’ zone offering a host of activities will keep the younger set busy

• The botanical gardens offer a variety of plants that concertgoers can explore to learn more about biodiversity

• Tickets are available in advance on the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens Facebook page or at the gardens themselves from R100. Tickets will cost R120 on the day.
