Residents urged to be vigilant at night

Tembisa police are urging residents to be more vigilant after a 36-year-old woman was allegedly robbed of her cell phone in her house.

According to the station spokesperson Captain Manyadza Ralidzivha, the woman woke up in the middle of the night and went to the outside toilet.

“When she came back she found an unknown man in her room. She screamed for help before the suspect grabbed her cell phone and ran away,” he said.

Captain Ralidzivha added that the woman laid a charge of theft at the Tembisa police station.

“This is a new modus operandi that the criminals are using in order to steal. Beware of those criminals entering your yard at night and open your tap water to awake you so that when you open the door to check, they are unable to enter in your own house,” he explained.

He added residents should call the police whenever there are suspect that they are criminals in the yard.

“Let us stop buying stolen goods and report all criminal activities that are happening in your area to the police. Together we can make a difference,” he concluded.
