Fun and fellowship at Wynand Marais Bingo day

Family,friends and loved ones enjoyed bingo.

The Wynand Marais Senior Citizens Club hosted another successful Bingo day on May 9 at the Wynand Marais Community Hall in Olienhout Street, Birchleigh.

The event attracted attendees of all ages from across the City of Ekurhuleni and served as a fundraiser to support the club’s activities and outings throughout the year.

Club secretary James Davison said the Bingo fundraiser is held twice a year.

“We host the event twice a year, and our next event is set for October,” said Davison.

Members of the club meet every Wednesday, with doors opening at 08:30 for the sale of Bingo tickets, tea or coffee, raffle tickets and Joker Jackpot entries.

The day’s programme begins at 09:30 and may include quizzes, darts, guest speakers and other entertainment activities before a tea break. From 11:00 to 12:00, attendees enjoy seven games of Bingo.

Bingo tickets cost between R2 and R5, making the activity affordable and accessible for members and visitors alike.

One of the particpant’s won a Women’s Day hamper.

The club currently has 107 members and offers a range of benefits throughout the year, including subsidised outings, a mid-year birthday lunch and a Christmas lunch funded by the club.

Davison said the club’s annual membership fees remain low, ensuring members receive good value while enjoying regular social activities and companionship.
