Police celebrate Women’s Day with orphans

Tembisa police and members from the SAPS National Office celebrated Women's Day at Bula Mahlo Centre in Defateng section.

The centre cares for orphans and abused children.

The main speaker was cluster commander Major General Vincent Leshabane.

He said the centre helps members of the community, especially abandoned children.

“The owner of the centre, Mme Sekgobela, has never turned her back on us. Sometimes we wake her up in the middle of the night. She opens the door and let the abandoned child in and immediately starts helping the child. Whilstpolice are busy investigating the circumstances surrounding the child, we know that the child will be in good hands,” he said.

Mme Bula Mahlo thanked members of the SAPS for supporting the centre in celebration of Women’s Day.

“You have shown that working together we can make a difference to children who need love and care,” she said.

Major General Leshabane and Tembisa Station Commander Major Johan Jordan handed food parcels to the centre.
