A 26-year-old man was arrested on Heritage Day shortly after he and an accomplice had robbed a couple on West Street.
“The couple was walking along West Street just before midnight when they were approached by two men who demanded their belongings,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton Park SAPS spokesman.
When the couple refused, the man was stabbed with a broken bottle by one of the robbers. The suspect took a cell phone and wallet containing R1 000 and fled.
“The woman spotted a police vehicle patrolling nearby and alerted the offices of the incident that had just happened and the officers managed to arrest one of the men,” he said.
