Teen assaulted with sword by robbers

A teenage boy tried to protect himself with a sword against robbers who broke into his house on Sunday.

Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS, said the Springbok Street boy’s father told police he received a call from his domestic worker at about 9am, saying there were two men inside the house.

While she called him from one room, they boy tried to protect himself with a sword in another. One of the robbers took the sword from him and hit him on the head before running away.

They took jewellery and a lap top.

Also on Sunday at 10.20pm, a Nissan was hijacked on the corner of the P91 and De Wiekus Street. The incident happened when the victim stopped at the traffic light.

A white BMW stopped behind him and a man ordered him at gunpoint to get out of his car and lie down. A second man drove off with the victim’s car.

In a separate incident on Saturday at about midnight two men broke into a house on Storms Road, Norkem Park. The husband, wife and their 14-year-old and six-year-old daughters were asleep when the men entered the house by breaking a door with a crowbar.

The electricity was off when the family woke up. The thugs searched the house with a torch, taking a plasma TV, sound equipment, a wallet and three cell phones.

On Friday a woman picked up a newspaper outside her gate at 4.10pm when arriving home. Her Toyota Corolla was parked at the gate.

When she returned to it, two men pointed a firearm at her. They ordered her to lie on the ground, took the keys and sped away with her car.
