A 10-year-old Birch Acres boy came home to a saddening scene when he found his two two-year-old Huskies poisoned on November 14.
“Our domestic worker went home at 5pm and we arrived home shortly after that. My son ran out of the car as usual to greet his dogs but he found the male lying in front of the garage. The female was still walking around the yard but I could tell she was not well,” explained the father.
Unfortunately they could not save the male but the father was able to give the female some milk and ground charcoal to induce vomiting.
“It is a gruelling process to have to do this to your pet but it’s the only way I could save her,” he added.
The little boy was affected by the incident which left him jittery at the slightest bark by the dog that survived.
“When I spoke to the police I told them that I’d found a plank with wire attached to it in front of my yard about two weeks before the incident. I believe it’s something that criminals can use to break into a home and the officers told me our home has been targeted by criminals,” he said.
