A 19-year-old robber was caught by a brave woman shortly after he and an accomplice robbed another woman on Miller Street last week Tuesday.
“The victim was walking along Miller Street when she was accosted by two men, one armed with a sharp instrument believed to be a screwdriver.
They demanded her cell phone and took it from her bra, where she kept it,” said Kempton Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali.
Another woman saw what happened and as they ran, she ran after them.
“She managed to catch up with one of the suspects and the police were called to the scene and he was arrested. The police wish to thank the brave woman who caught the suspect. Her act of bravery shows that crime is fought more effectively when the community and police work together,” said Mtshali.
