THE car a man, suspected of murder and robbery, left his mother after his death, was most probably stolen.
Mary Mahlangu, mother of Bless Moore, was arrested at her Esther Park home last week for allegedly being in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.
Moore had cases pending in KZN, Mpumalanga, Bloemfontein and Johannesburg and had been arrested several times on charges ranging from business robbery to murder. He was gunned down in Johannesburg about three months ago.
Const Sharon Mahamba, spokesman for Sebenza SAPS, said Moore left his mother an Audi 2013. The white Audi was parked at a taxi rank in Tembisa and police got suspicious, as it was the only car parked there.
Mahamba said car thieves parked cars in parking lots and taxi ranks to determine whether it had a tracking device or not.
The police traced the registration number to a woman in Sandton. She denied ever owning an Audi and knew nothing about this car.
Police decided to wait at the taxi rank. Mahlangu, who works at the taxi rank, came out and was confronted by the officers.
Mahamba said Mahlangu claimed the vehicle belonged to her. After police asked for the vehicle’s papers, she took them to her home in Esther Park. There police saw the car was in fact registered to the woman in Sandton.
How this happened, is still unclear. According to Mahamba, the vehicle was registered to the Sandton woman before Moore’s death.
