Free medical testing for residents

The African National Congress (ANC) Oupa Nkadimeng Branch (Ward 7) is inviting residents of the ward to attend a community health awareness campaign.

The campaign will be held at the Pingo Shopping Cenre in Tsenelong on Saturday at 9.30am.

According to the branch chairman, Mr Ali Sello Tleane, the campaign is a second joint venture with the Ekurhuleni Health Department and will focus on community members being voluntarily counselled and tested for diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), TB and HIV.

“This is an opportunity for residents, who cannot often get time off to visit clinics during the week, to come on Saturday and be tested for the four diseases, easily and quickly,” he said.

He added that three or more mobile clinics will be utilised for the testing.

“It is dangerous for us to be ignorant about the state of our health. Without good health, we will not be able to plan for the future,” said Mr Tleane.

He said the community’s response for the initial campaign in September was so huge that all testing material was finished by 2:30pm. The staff has promised to be better prepared this year.
