SHAHEED Leen (42) will again appear in court on January 17 after his murder trial had been postponed in Kempton Park Regional Court on Wednesday last week, pending further investigation.
Leen is the prime suspect in the murders of elderly Bonaero Park couple, Percy and Noleen Whitmore, who were attacked and murdered in their home on August 4, 2011.
The police still have to obtain cellphone records and DNA results. They also need to obtain bank transactions as it is believed that bank cards belonging to the Whitmores were used after the murders.
The case has been postponed for this amount of time to allow for the results to be collected and presented to the court when Leen appears again.
He was arrested on October 21 in Cape Town when police found evidence linking him directly to the crime scene.
Leen was denied bail during his last appearance, with the magistrate citing that the reasons presented before the court were insufficient to make him a suitable candidate for bail.
