FIVE men were arrested in Esther Park on Wednesday last week after a resident called the police when he spotted a suspicious vehicle.
Const Sharon Mahamba, spokesman for Sebenza SAPS, said sector 1 police officers Consts Baloyi and Halame, were on patrol in Esther Park when the resident called them. He spotted five men in a white Bantam bakkie with a canopy. The officers found them in Satynhout Street.
The men told the officers they were from a specific garden service. Knowing that garden service and not recognising the men, the officers searched them. They found an unlicensed firearm with the driver, as well as a crow bar and three pairs of used surgical gloves with the three on the back of the bakkie.
Mahamba said the police were investigating if these men, who are from Alexandra, could be linked to housebreakings in Esther Park and surrounding areas.
